Will I experience any effects from taking Vital Greens for the first time?

Generally Vital Greens is very well tolerated. Vital Greens contains ingredients that cleanse and detox the system, thus some people may experience mild symptoms when you first start taking Vital Greens. This may include mild nausea, bloating, excessive flatulence, general gut discomfort or a minor skin irritation.

If this does occur, we recommend reducing the dose of Vital Greens by half while your body adjusts (approx.. 2 – 4 weeks), and then gradually increase to the full 10g dose.

If these sorts of symptoms become extreme or start to influence your day to day routine, please discontinue Vital Greens and gain some support from your health care practitioner

 

What is the best time of the day to take Vital Greens?

First thing in the morning on an empty stomach is ideal, however you may take Vital Greens any time of the day. Vital Greens is best taken before meals or at least one hour after meals to help with maximum absorption.

Why do I have to keep Vital Greens in the fridge once I have opened it? Do I have to use it within a certain period?

We recommend keeping Vital Greens in the fridge once it is opened, due to the probiotic (micro-organisms) content.

Probiotics are living organisms and need to be kept in the refrigerator to minimize the loss of potency, but as they are freeze dried this does not become an issue until the tub is opened, as the probiotics need air and warmth to live. Alternatively, you can keep Vital Greens in a cool, dark place, but ideally the fridge is best. We recommend consuming Vital Greens within 90 days of opening (and in the fridge) to maintain potency & freshness.

 

Anything to consider before taking Vital Greens?

Are there any concerns with taking Vital Greens while I am on prescription medications?

Can I take Vital Greens if I am also pregnant/breastfeeding?

We recommend consulting with a health care professional whilst pregnant or lactating prior to taking Vital Greens. It’s important that care is taken when taking ingredients that may stimulate a detoxing response while pregnant or breastfeeding and many practitioners will reduce the dose and monitor closely. It’s also important that your individual health needs are considered.

 

Can children or babies take Vital Greens?

For Children under 12 years please refer to our Vital Kids product which has been specifically developed for kids aged 5 – 12 years. The daily dose is one heaped teaspoon (5g) daily.

It is recommended that children under 5 years of age consult with a health care professional to discuss individual health needs and a suitable dose.

 

Vital Greens contains wheat grass, is it wheat free?

Yes Vital Greens is wheat free and gluten free. Wheat grass is suitable for people avoiding gluten and wheat because it is cut when it is very young; at this stage the grass does not contain any gluten. The gluten is present in the wheat kernel, after the wheat plant has grown for a long time.

 

Is there Soy in Vital Greens? Where is the Lecithin derived from?

There is no added Soy in Vital Greens however the Lecithin is derived from Soy.  As the Lecithin is extracted from Soy very little actual Soy is left over so we don’t need to be concerned that there is large amounts of Soy in Vital Green. There may be traces of Soy, anyone with a history of allergy is best to avoid Vital Greens.

 

How many fruits and vegetables are in Vital Greens? Do I still need to eat fruits and vegetables if I take Vital Greens every day?

While Vital Greens should not replace fruit and vegetables in your diet, it contains the antioxidant equivalent of 8 – 10 serves of fruit and vegetables. Vital Greens supports the national dietary guidelines for Australians that encourage the intake of a wide variety of nutritious foods daily*.

Is there any caffeine in Vital Greens?

Cocoa Beans do contain a small amount of caffeine naturally. This equates to approx. 0.24mg of caffeine in every 10g daily serve of Vital Greens. This is a very small amount. An average cup of coffee has approx. 100mg of caffeine.

 

Is Vital Greens Yeast free?

Yes although we use a high quality extract that is taken from the wall of a yeast cell, called Saccharomyces cerevisiae.  This does not mean Vital Greens contains yeast.  All of the yeast cell is discarded – it is only the beta glucans compound that we extract out and include in the actual product.

 

I notice you use certified organic ingredients in Vital Greens. Why aren’t all of the ingredients organic?

Vital Greens uses organic ingredients where possible.  Our aim is to provide our consumers with the most organic Vital Greens product as possible at the time of manufacture. We guarantee that every ingredient we identify on our label as being organic is organic in every manufactured batch of Vital Greens.  We do aim to source as many additional organic ingredients as are available at the time of manufacture, and as such, some batches may include more organic ingredients over and above what is stated on the label.  In Australia, it is not possible to source and supply each of the 76 Vital Greens ingredients in a certified organic form.

 

Are there any genetically modified (GM) ingredients in Vital Greens?

No, there are no genetically modified ingredients in Vital Greens.

How much caffeine is in Vital 55+?

Green Tea (Camellis sinensis) in Vital 55+ contains 5-7% maximum caffeine. This equates to 6 ­ to 9mg of caffeine per serving size. (a cup of coffee has about 100mg of caffeine).

According to regulatory guidelines, this is considered to be termed to provide a small amount of caffeine.

 

Is there iron found in Vital 55+?

Vital 55+ has no added iron. Some of the ingredients contain iron naturally, especially green leafy plants, so this does contribute to your daily iron requirement. If you are iron deficient or anaemic, you will need to still follow the advice of your healthcare professional and add a suitable iron supplement to your daily routine. (see Spatone).

Vital Kids contains 56 natural ingredients. At times, there may be discrepancies between each batch due to the inclusion of so many natural ingredients.

Because of the nature of the ingredients that we use, we do find that there can be variations in texture, taste and appearance with each batch of Vital Kids.  We use the most natural ingredients that are available at the time: much like the fruit & vegetables we grow & buy, our ingredients may be affected by weather, the time of year, and other seasonal variations.

However, be assured that each batch contains all 56 vital ingredients and are always at the same proportion to work in synergy for maximum effect.

Is Vital Protein hydrolysed?

No Vital Protein is not hydrolysed. Other proteins may be hydrolysed or broken down to help increase the absorption of the protein. Vital Protein already has a very high digestible rating (98%) which is based the low anti-nutritional factors content, making it therefore very well tolerated and digested. Because the pea protein isolate in Vital Protein is of high purity it contains all the essential amino acids and in significant amounts.

 

How does Vital Protein differ from whey proteins?

  • Vital Protein is dairy/lactose free. Whey Proteins are not.
  • Vital Protein is alkalising at pH 7.8 for improved recovery and energy. Whey Proteins are acidic.
